I'm fitting a front hydraulic brake to an Indian GP and suggested that the bolt on lower damper brakets were binned and new links fitted as I was rebuilding the forks.
but this happened earlier :

doing the usual ring spanner method to get the bottom buffer in. was i doing something wrong for it to snap there ? or are they just crap cast links ? They do seem less than high quality...
so who stocks decent drum links with damper mounts ? i got mine from MB a couple of years ago, but they only seem to list disc links now..
nothing is fitting without fettling on this job

Byron, MB will weld mounts on for you. Just make sure you give them a decent set of Italian links. I had a set of Indian GP links done and they wharped. I can't see the photo either but, yes, in my experience those type of mounts may as well be made of cheese. After my second lot snapped in half, I vowed never to use them again. paul

Byron, Italian or Spanish links will be fine and get someone to weld the mounts, MB, or Shocky etc.

I have just spoken to the supplier; he seemed genuinely concerned and wants me to return the links for inspection. He was talking about exchange or refund. Also said that they will check their stock for any further defects. So can't say fairer than that at this stage.

the reason i dont use the indian ones is that frank sanderson said they had some welded and on was dropped and the lug just fell off

spoken to the owner of the dealers, he was happy to refund.
it was a known problem, and they always refund.
they have not heard of any breaking in use, only whilst fitting as in my case.
So, apart from the delay in getting the job done and the hassle with posting the links back, it's not too bad.
Of course I still don't think that the links should be sold...
