ive got a 240, i have a 30 and 35mm but im going for the 30 on an mb manifold. its a series 1 so i have more space than a 3.
a number of tuners have dynoed them back to back with no power loss but the 30mm is said to feel quicker as the responce at lower revs is better. lazy tuners say its hard to set up but b race hope to be machining some needles to fix the step between jet to jet like a dyno jet kit.
i hope to have mine on his dyno soon. im looking for drivability.
on my 32mm delorto i had the front machined off for better clearance. worked well for 10 years so dont dismiss this option.
large body oko on mine its 30mm but can be bored to 35 with ease the large body has bigger internal chambers so flows more fuel than the small bodied one

The power jet system seems not to work properly on all setups. I can only think this is because the vacuum is built up a bit different then on other PJ carbs and the airflow in certain motors is not effective enough.
Therefore I either disconnect the power jet or use a rather small jet (40 to 50) on engines like TS1´s. The standard needle seems to work quite well on most engines I used this carb.
Jettings are usually around 17,5 to 22,5 idle jet, standard needle, 50 power jet and 270 to 290 main jet (elbow and air filter) - as usual this is "internet jetting advice" and might be different on your engine, always check!
PS: no clearance probs with LTH / Gravedigger manifolds, Sacchi elbow and air filter on TS1´s
PPS: a new Sacchi elbow is on sale now that fits directly onto 27/30mm Mikunis!
I found PJ won't work on TS1 and mid range can run very lean with STD needle leading to a holed piston. Read cezata's advice re. machined needles as IMO this is what is needed to jet corrrectly.
so you see how different jettings can be...we don´t have problems with the standard needle in conjunction with an airfilter (!). I expected this to be even better in the UK climate..
PJ works definetely when there´s enough airflow, you see the difference on a dyno as well. I was also running disconnected all the time as I couldn´t feel the difference to be honest. After changing down to a smaller PJ as the one supplied and bigger main it also shows the signs a PJ should show on the street (engine is the Mugello with LTH reed manifold from the Ancillotti challenge thread) It will not work on all engines thou.
can´t find the thread with machined needles in the search...do you have a link pls?
The power jet seems to work fine on a RB [according to the dyno] but you cant honestly tell by looking into the mouth of the carb as all you see is a haze of fuel, used to have a amal power jet some years ago and they used to spit fuel out of the PJ which was easy to see, though not very efficient i suspect as it was liquid fuel, things have moved on abit since then . Got a nicer ride useing the 30 tmx PJ over the 35 tmx and more BHP as well, i believe this is down to you having more options when fine tuning the carb, by the way i have no clearence issues as its on a series 2 but a mate with a GP had to shorten his inlet manifold to run the 30 TMX on his bike with enough room so as not to have to put a hole in the panal, regards.
