I need to replace my old right angled hand piece, Its a Foredom which works off a pendulum motor and flex drive with a foot control, but it's now worn out. Question is what else is available and does it fit the same drive or is a complete new setup needed... Anyone..??

it seems to fit on the foredom flex drive, but looks deeper and i´m not sure if it´s suitable for our diameters...

Looks a little too large. I will take a pic of the porting tool I wish to replace and post it up here. I bought it in 83 for about £80 new. A simlar hand piece today is about £ 250+ the dreaded VAT... Ouch .....

This is a pic of my right angle porting tool... Used mainly for tidying up transfers in the bore or sometimes adding boost ports, but its broken.... anyone know of a good alternative to this type, as mine has a habit of wearing parts out (bearings and bevel drive gears not to mention replacing collets as they are a little fragile when used at the wrong angle... Its past its sell by date now and needs replacing... Anyone Please..?? otherwise its another one of these, and see how long it lasts and these are not cheap..!!

I could do with it to finish this off as the port edges in the bore dont quite line up about Two degrees between transfers on one side to the other and one of the smaller transfers is a little strangled in the bore... Not going to be fa fast TS just a mild tune to port entries blend and flow reeds but a little tidy in the bore would help on this barrel... Work in progress.

I have emailed a couple of companies to get some feed back on their products, if their products are of any use, I will post them on here... just incase anyone else needs a replacement handpiece or wants to start porting barrels themselves, as thats what this site is all about, "tuning scooters" so if its of any use at all, I will put it on here for all to see.....

Found this... http://www.artcotools.com/nsk-espert-br ... c-366.html but by the time the hand pieces are added in its near to $2000 thats quite expensive...

So it looks like I might buy a new one of these... http://www.moleroda.com/acatalog/Foredo ... html#a4631 looking for the best price now... But I dont know if I will have to pay import duty if I buy one from the States...?? they are usually cheaper from the States..!!

This could be very usefull... http://www.artcotools.com/foredom-to-ns ... 16890.html .... as it seems to allow the use of the higher quality NSK hand pieces, with the cheaper foredom motor & flex drive... The NSK hand pieces are classed as heavy duty use... the Foredom hand piece is a little less robust...

Which should allow it to be used with these... http://www.artcotools.com/nsk-90-angle- ... 16337.html ... http://www.artcotools.com/nsk-45-angle- ... 16338.html

I've been looking for a similar tool for quite a while now.
I've got a Dremel, Proxion 90deg, air die grinders and a guard free router, but internal bore work is still difficult.
J1MS have you had the Fordom since '83 or just the head? I've killed a few flexidrives over the years and would like to find something that will last, but not cost too much. The Foredom looks a decent enough price but I'd like to see it last for at least a dozen cylinders to justify the cost, or do I need to be considering some of the dearer units?
Hope somone can shed some light onto this.

I have a couple of small straight hand pieces some nearly as thin as a pencil, but the right angled hand piece is not actually a Fordom... My mistake...
Ive had it for years but because it was wearing out, I've not given it much use lately, It still works but the drive inside the shaft of the handset keeps failing, besides that the bearings and bevel gears are worn...

The reason I thought it was a Foredom is I had been looking for a replacement, seen the foredom, and thought that's the same as mine... but the fixing to the flex drive is different but its very similar other than that... I will photograph it tomorrow on its shaft drive with the Motor connected...
I got this one of a lad that once raced for Leeds Central, called... Peter Rutherford... he supplied a couple of the lads that raced with these at a good discount... Chiselspeed had one of these many years ago... Mine uses a large 1/3 HP motor which is reversible & has a foot control... I bought this back in the early 80's and the straight hand pieces just turned up over the years... The 90 degree hand piece I have had for about 25 years... Its had alot of use but not much use left in it now... I have ordered a replacement and some other bits & pieces. I'm just waiting for the postman now...

I will probably repair the hand piece and keep it using it just for roughing out Transfers in the bore...
