Hi, have just joined Scooterotica. I live on the isle of wight and have returned to scootering after a too long absence.
I have recently obtained a Lambretta LI 125 s with a Rapido 225 engine with an open 28mm Dellorto carb.
Is it normal for the carb to fire out fuel in a fine mist which covers the inside of my panel after a ride?
Also what sort of MPG should I expect?
Many thanks, Vinny.

As nobody else has answered and I've just spotted your post, I'll try to give my non professional opinion:-

Yes, all piston ported two strokes tend to spit back a certain amount of fuel especially at low revs (have a look at the inside of the air bellows(rubber) on any normally aspirated (with filter) Lambretta.

Fuel consumption really depends on the type of riding you do, long or short trips, flat out or cruise type driving but I estimate that you should get between 50-70 mpg (4.5 litres) at the extreme ends of whatever type of riding you do.
NO IT'S NOT A F***IN* MOPED!!!!!!

Thanks for the reply, I am Only getting 30 mpg!!! I have decided to change the manifold and introduce a filter to my carb and re jet as I thought that this fuel consumption was excessive.
I did think about the piston rings being worn, but I am still getting loads of power!!!!
I will keep you posted.
