I've tried the method in Sticky's book on page 70 (last paragraph) and I can get it to 10mm or 0mm, but I can't get it to 5mm when I move the arm by one splind either way.

can you select all the gears when rod and trunnion are in ?
are the splines different alighnment from li to gp models, could it be that the 1 piece arm fits different selectors in the engine to the 2 piece ?

just come in from doing this on an Indian 200 casing
what gear is it in in your pic ?
I generally go for the putting it into second gear and making sure the selector arm is at right angle method, also on page 70.
is your layshaft pulled into place with the correct torque already ?

I think that is 2nd gear but if he moves it one spline it goes the same distance past the 90 degree point on the other side.

I have a cat (well wife's actually) that drops hair everywhere and it covers my scoot all over especially the greasy parts. Effin annoying,I'm allergic to cats and if I didn't have a conscience,I'd make use of a plastic bag and a brick.

Sorry, just noticed the fur in the above pic and could relate to it.
How come phonetics isn't spelt with an 'f'?

Odd that. I usually find them to be thicker and curlier. Old pussy is it?
