Which carb for my 175 engine?

My Ts1 240 engine lost compression the other week on the way to 'run to the scrum', leaving me high and dry for an engine for IOW. I have been spending some cash to get my 175 engine ready, incase JB can not get my barrel re-plated in time. The problem is that i am not sure which carb to go for. I have a stage 4 175 kit, an Ancilotti and elect ign kit. I want ti fit an Imola kit eventually, over winter, so i want a carb the will work with both the 175 kit and Imola. I really want one of them Mikuni TM24 carb kits (i want to run some kind of filter, but not an air box). I will use this engine to pootle round town and the odd rally, so fuel economy is an issue. Will a mikuni be over the top for this mild engine? Would i be better with a 25 / 26mm Dellorto? Funds are tight and i dont really want to spend money / time on a dyno run. Would jets be more readily available for dellortos? Your options would help.

mmmmm. maybe you could just buy a 22mm jetex and manifold, and run that on your cast 175 for now, they are only about 25 quid, and save your money for a 30 mil dellorto or similar for when you imola it? that way, you can pootle around, and still have some dosh for the winter rebuild.

get a cheap 22mil jetex and buy dellorto jets for it for the setup.
quality is not always on top, so it can be loads cheaper to buy one from a local dealer
for 35.- (exchange in case of mess) than on ebay.

for an imola kit, sell the jetex and get a mikuni or dello flatside.

DO NOT BUY A KOSO / PWK CHEAPO CARB.
why?

a) with all the money for jetting stuff and the adjustment stuff you can buy a genuine
mikuni or keihin carb.

b) bad quality. absolutely incomparable to genuine keihin and mikuni carbs.

Worked fine on my 175 with the supplied jets and needles as it has on many others and recommended by a very respected engine builder.

TM24 ultimate kit from Jet200 Performance, fantastic carb and Mark is a great guy to deal with. I even nominate him for 'dealer of the year' ;)

I really want the 24mm tm carb, so may just bung on my 20mm standard one for the IOW and then do a re-build over the winter. Thanks for the advice 8-)
