woodruff key keeps dropping...

OK boys, so here I am trying to get my scoot back on the road, then, realize that the woodruff key is just not tightening to the taper of the li crank, so even if I tighten the flywheel, the woodruff key does not hold it proppery so, when I kickstart it, it just bangs on the sides of the magflange.

Solutions?

P.S: I would love to take the scooter on vacation, I have an auxiliary kit of mag bearing set, seals, GP indian crank (with original bearing inside) I guess it would be an option just to use sporadically on my trip to italy.

uh...?

you should be able to fit a flywheel to a crank (in theory) with no key. its an interferance fit. the key is just to line it up.

canm you give more info?

Cezeta is right... The taper is what holds the flywheel on once torqued up, The woodruff key is only to locate it, to align the timing...

I know I am a ham-fisted barsteward but ffs!! I am not that dumb! :D    Nope, there is just not a way to line the flywheel correctly by some reason, it always stays out of line. Then I tighten it up all I can and it just wobles...

But it sounds something like a "clong" every time I kickstart it. Not enough torque maybe?

sounds like its binding on the key which is pushing it to one side.....but then he is spanish so you cant rule out anything....they chase bulls about

try fitting the flywheel with no key and kick it over. if it spins streight then the key is possibly too big.
