Casa Lambretta 210 Road Kit.......Update

I spoke with Casa Lambretta UK/Scootopia today and asked if they had managed to get round to fitting one of the above kits.....they had and experienced the same problems with the rattling as I had done.
They contacted Vittorio and ... guess what .. he knew about it but not told anyone it seems?
They explained thet there is a mismatch between piston (Asso) and barrel (Gilardini?) in that the area above and including the rings is slightly too narrow (the taper on the piston has been machined incorrectly) so that you measure clearance at the bottom of the piston which is fine, but you assume that the top of the piston is manufactured correctly, thus causing the tinkley rattle......well that's what I understood it was.
In any event the arguement is now between Asso and Gilardini? as to who got the specs wrong. Eventually though Asso are going to have to revise the piston and Casa will supply a replacement when it's all sorted out (The Italians have just closed down for hols for a month)
But we are assured that the kit will not be damaged as a result (fingers and other appendages crossed) and can be used as normal if you just ignore the rattling.
Apart from the s**t R & D that was done anyone like to make a comment?
