That is the question.
Does putting a couple of boost ports help or hinder torque?
I like the idea that they help lubricate and cool the little end and piston crown but does that mean it helps overal hp and not torque?
Also, increasing flow into the crank via an extra port, enlarging the tranfers at the feed end, help or hinder torque?
Is anyone likey to give out a few tuning tips they know actually work or is it like the masons? (Or indeed a hit and miss affair?)
The only reason I ask is that I'm by no means well off and the few barrels I have need to work and not be scrap.
To boost or not to boost...

That nobody knows the answer to?the-brickie wrote:That is the question.
Boost porting on a piston port barrel is being covered far better than most, by Mick Abbey on this forum... It can give big gains in power and can aid lubrication... Boost ports that use a window in the piston on line with the small end bearing is supposed to help lubricate the small end... But if you direct your questions towards Mick Abbey, it looks like hes best qualified to answer...

Cheers JIMS, I'll search Mr Abbey...
Had a look, looks good but no mention of what I'm after, I'm talking about these type of extra ports..

Looks an easy mod with good benefits.
