I've just received my new Rapido, have seen a hole about 4mm in diameter in the barrel where one of the inlet studs has been drilled through
Is it ok to use like this?

Or should it be sent back - could do without the hassle of this though.
If it aint broke.........tinker with it.....

Never fear - phoned AF - it's where they have been bored from 200 to 225 and gone into the drilling , should cause no problems whatsover

I'd check to make sure the edges of the hole are chamfered so they don't catch a ring again ;) Double check with AF that it will be OK. If they say it'll be OK, I'd make sure the stud is Loctited in. Sounds a bit iffy, though

I doubt a ring will snag on it as it's quite small but you have a point about the stud - if that comes out there's going to be trouble, I'd be more wary if it was an exhaust stud though I suppose.
It does look like the hole has been chamfered so It must have been seen before it was sent out and I'd like to think AF wouldn't have sent it out if it could cause problems?

Are you going to be reimbursed fully if anything does go wrong or will he try and blame something else, i would want a perfect barrel if you are paying for it and also for peace of mind

There will be no problems relating to this hole. I have seen it many times on rapido barrels due to the casting. loctite all studs in place etc and it's fine.

why accept the unacceptable ?. send it back and tell them to send an undamaged one or buy on your credit card then get them to chase it up .
in my eyes its not fit for purpose so why use/risk it.

Why do we continue to worry about how to adjust it, fettle it and sometimes bodge it after we've received it? that's why The Sales of Goods Act exists (correct.. is it fit for purpose?) however some people continue to ignore this legislation and treat us like c**** and still send sometimes inferior crap for top prices to unasuming loyal scooterists!!...count to ten, deep breaths Ash....I'm ok now...forget what I said...I'm not bitter  but really...how long are we gonna be treated like this??
