I've scoured the sites pages for any info on this setup and couldn't find specific info. So I'm asking for some advice.
My current set up is this :-
Monza 225 (not tuned)
JL4 pipe
Ignition set at 16 degrees
Dellorto 30mm PHBH with the following setup :-
Needle X7, clip 2nd slot from the top
140 Main jet
70 choke
55 pilot
300 float
large screw is 1.25 turns out from fully in
small screw is 2.5 turns out from fully in
It seems a little weak at half to full throttle and rich below. Doesn't need much choke to get it started from cold. Bit spluttery at low revs then takes off like a banshee once in it's (very sharp) powerband. Once warm the engine revs very fast and almost races.
This will be used on a track-oriented bike, in Street Class and not really for general road use.
I never remember what the two screws do and how they should be set to alter which characteristics.
Oh, and I also seized it in a bad way (needs new piston !) last night, so I want to get the carburation right this time !
Any advice is gratefully received !
Also, how long would it take to run the Monza in and under what conditions (bearing in mind I hope to be racing it at Donington in a week or so !) - i was using 3% but should I go to 4% ?
Another also, normal unleaded or super unleaded ? I was running super when it blow a great crater out of the top of the piston and I noticed that MBD's site says only use normal unleaded not super ?
