Has anyone used SIP in the UK? Are their products shipped from the UK ad exempt from customs and duty?
Also do they typically have a Black Friday Sale? I'm about to order something not very cheap and I'd be annoyed if I get stung with taxes, or there's a Black Friday Sale in two days time. At the same time, I'm finding it best to buy something when you see it, as it's often out of stock when you've actually saved up for it!

I realise that it's a very old thread but people still buy from German shops and complain about getting "stung" with various charges including import duty and VAT when the goods arrive in the UK. There's a cut off point which I think is €135, anything below and you pay German taxes etc when you place an order. If it's over that amount then the German company won't charge you these costs but HMRC (plus the courier) will charge you on arrival. Some couriers won't deliver unless you pay the charges up front but some send you an invoice at a later date, out of the Blue. If you decline to pay the charges then the goods get returned to Germany but you won't be refunded for the shipping. Couriers like Fedex and UPS can be quite threatening and will take legal action against you if you fail to pay up. At the end of every order it's all explained although you can't see it unless you actually place an order. You ticked a box agreeing to the terms and conditions but you probably didn't read what you were signing. It's a legal requirement when importing goods from overseas, there's no "sting" involved just laws of importing.
