What causes the kick start arm to start rubbing?

1000kms on a fresh rebuild and the kick start arm just now starts to rub against the clutch top plate. What's most likely changed to cause this? It's a tv175 but the kick start arm is a scootopia, which I ground down a bit.

I'd be looking at the external shim first.

What tends to get forgotten about clutches is that as they wear, the springs will continue to force the whole assembly toward the cover. This not only means the centre gets closer to the cam, thereby requiring slackening of the cable, but the top plate, bedding into the circlip will also move a Nat's in that direction & possibly even distort a little. Add to that fact that the later clutches tip to one side anyway with no centre bored clusters & you'll understand why I prefer early clutch designs.
All you can do is clean up the parts, try shimming the kickstart centre outwards & fit thick chain case gaskets, prior to refilling with ATF......
