My first bit of advice (unrequested) :)
Do not repaint it, It looks fine.
My 2nd bit of advice (also unrequested)
Spend carefully on it. Recouping your costs via a future sale, rarely works on less popular models. As I know to my cost.

Thanks Daggs.

I am still undecided on respray will possibly see if can restore the paintwork without it.

TBh I am not sure if we will be reselling it as said it was free and whilst I have never owned a scooter this will be a project and would be nice to have it restored.

I have found a site and costed most of aesthetic parts and comes out reasonably priced.

I was looking at around 1k ish to restore so likely with this figured a respray wouldn’t be feasible, although do have a friend that I could call in for a favour.

Storkfort I am not sure yet as it’s at my parents I would imagine it needs new batteries at very least but looking at engine it appears the gaskets would need replacing.

Tbh with the number of owners and mileage I will look at having under the covers cleaned up and serviced will see if bodywork polishes up and then will have some of the metal work rechromed and will replace the rubbers.

I think that should be all that’s needed.

Would anyone have value that once running for this as I need it for insurance

Once you start stripping it down you could easily diminish the value.

Thanks for that. This is no criticism just interested to know why work on it will diminish the value. Surely new seals on engine, new rubber handles/seats and a polish of paintwork wouldn’t devalue it or am I missing something

Hey

So finally got workshop sorted and started work on it.

Tbh the pre opus owner clearly did not ride it well as found the brake switch, flywheel cover and few of panels dented pretty bad.

With just 900 miles on it not quite sure what she did with it.

Anyway as mentioned as was free am doing full strip down and rebuild. Resale won’t be on cards so although will cost a fair bit and keen to have a bike that will last.

Here’s so far. Fully stripped down now and engine next to work on.

All going well will then start getting out Abel’s redone and start sourcing the replacement rubber trims.

Have to say my recent Dremel purchase has been great working on this so far. Started polishing parts to check and badge came up really well.Image
