hello
i have a 225 alloy with a soft tune (flowed inlet/exhaust , 1mm base plate , 0.5 mm head gasket) together with a 24 scootrs oko with no air filter and a scootrs exhaust

the carb jetting is "from the box" , not so bad , but i just can reach 60mph on a flat unwindy road
i am thinking using a thinner head gasket first and i can use the original lince exhaust or an old 42 big bore
as it's for a daily scooter , i will also be very please to use an air filter ...

thanks for your help

trying to adjust the scootrs-carb is senseless.
with that inferior quality you don´t have to buy expensive jetting-sets and slides.
fit a good carb on it. a cheap and basic dellorto phpb 24 will do the job.
you can get cheap jets and parts for it for correct adjustment.

You haven't said what jets you have in the carb at present and any details of how she runs or what the plug colour is like. More info please

What gearing are you using? It's important with a revvy exhaust like a scootrs one.

I've really no idea about the jetting / carb / pipe combination but you may need to have the transfers worked on in the barrel.
A mate had the 200 version and couldn't get over 55mph. It had had similar work to yours and was fitted with an original Fresco and a similar sized carb- can't remember what exactly.
Harry (Pro Porting) Barlow told me that the transfer feeds are too narrow in these barrels and need work. Once opened up and the angles sorted they make decent kits.
There have also been issues with the heads of these kits being machined wrong so you might want that checked out too.

Have to disagree there I must have at least 10 scoots running about with these on all reliable and all running well. I fitted one on a GT186 and got 17hp. Can't be that crap?

Beat me to it, I think they are great once you know what you're doing, the only slight disadvantage is that there isn't the wealth of knowledge as there is for dellys but with only 3 things to play with the pwk is less complicated.

speak slowly please , i'm french  :frog:

the thing that i'm sure is that the main jet is 110 , no idea about needle and other component ...
the gearing is the original lince 200 (sx200 ??) , but years ago i use to drive a '69 jet/sx200 with an iron 225 linked to a 42 big bore and 20 original carb for town and 28 mikuni for road , nearly always 2 up with my beloved half and no problems , 70mph all the way ...

hi,i used to run 200 indian barrell, scorpion exhaust, scootrs 24mm oko carb,my main jet was 110,the pilot was 34,used the needle it came with on 2nd clip from top,if anything it was running rich,on yours i'm thinking 115 main 34 pliot as a starting point,as mentioned before check your gearing isnt too high for your gearbox,i was running li 150 gearbox ,16 tooth front sprocket, but would struggle on long hills or strong head winds and was thinking of going down to a 15 tooth on the front, cheers all.
