BGB stator output too low.

I've got a v1 bgm stator and matching flywheel on a jet200. My headlight is way too dim. I measured out put from stator to regulator and it is 6-7v at 1200 rpm and 10-11v when I'm revving it. Bike starts and rides great.

I thought it should be more like 14v.

What would cause this? One or more could failing?

Tx
David

weak magnets would cause that. Ac or DC?

AC. It's about 5 yrs old if I have to guess, but only a few thousand KMs use as I have several on the road.

I pulled the flywheel. It's a bgm with the solid magnet all the way around. It would hold a 19mm spanner hung from one end. But if I compare it to the scooters original SX taper flywheel, those magnets are much stronger.

I don't have another bgm fly wheel to compare against.

I'm going to pull an AF Rayspeed flywheel off another scooter and try that.

Were those readings taken without the lights on? The rason I ask is that you need a load present otherwise the regulator shorts the stator output to earth

Its also worth paying particulat attention to your connections especially the earth tag on the stator itself. That tag is only rivited usually and they are often loose.

Hi, lights were on. But I put on an old Indian flywheel and lights were great. So cheers to the person who guessed weak magnets. I'll send SIP a note as that is a product fail.

Tonight I'll shim the pickup to match this flywheel and be done with it.

Tx again
