I recently acquired a cheap Electrex ignition and would like convert it to 'full DC'. From my research it appears this can and has been done, but there also appears to be different versions of the ignition. Mine is the (late?) one with the common Ducati-type CDI as found on V#sp@ P-series, and the wiring off stator is 2x white, 1x yellow, 1x green and 1x red.

I'd welcome any advice on converting this to run 'full DC' with Wassell/Podtronics type rectifier-regulator. Any wiring diagrams would also be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Update: I stripped the sheaving off the wires and found a second yellow that had been cut short. The wiring diagram below now makes sense. I've read that others have been successful in converting these to 'full DC' by connecting the 2 yellows to a single-phase wassell/podtronics rectifier. Can anyone confirm this will work? Thanks!

Even for AC only, the brolam diagram doesn't look correct. It is missing a link on the reg, which connects the yellow stator wire(s) to the yellow loom feed.
Also the 2 yellows from the stator(?) are shown connected together on the reg, if this is correct then they won't supply a wassel rectifier. Do you know where the other yellow is from?

Thanks, Kev! Unlike the wiring diagram, the actual stator has 2 separate yellow wires that appear to originate from the lighting coils. The 2nd white is earthed on top of the laminates, above the LT coil. If I get some time tomorrow, I'll unbolt the stator from the base plate and trace everything out.

Yeah, would be handy to see where the wires terminate at the coils, it's not obvious on any pics I've seen. Odd then, that the drawing shows the 2 yellows connected on the same reg pin, any coils between them are shorted out.
