Wrong frame cones.

I was just about to put the engine in my budget bitsa but I think I need different cones. These ones were used with small engine mounts. I think I need ones with a small shoulder (can't think of a better word) for large silent blocks that I've fitted.

I've been guilty of this, before even appreciating that there were mount specific cones, and the bikes rode fine. I think that the difference may put more stress on the rubber part of the mount, pulling it harder to close the distance, resulting in premature failure of the mounts.

If you don't mind the fact that you made need to changed then earlier, the ride should be fine.

Thanks Adam. If that's your (more experienced than me) prognosis, I'll use what I have. It's only a temporary engine as I have 2 more I want to experiment with waiting in the wings.
