Newly built BGM225, dellorto 30 carb.
2 niggles,
Its hard to start! not hard, as in 100 kicks but physicaly hard to kick. 1.13 squish. Starts second or third kick. Its my 15yr old sons scoot and he kan bearley kick it over, he has no probs kicking over my SS240 as a comparison,
It wont idle.
55 pilot with the slide screw fully in. If I hold the throttle a tiny bit its fine.

I'm not an expert by any means, but I do run a 225 kit and it's a pussycat. I don't have any problems starting it. It does sound like the compression might be too high.

Its not on a series 1 or 2 is it? Or have a series 2 kick start? If yes then it will be harder to start.
Mixture screw should be about 1.5 turns out not all the way in.

Mine did the same, after a few miles it felt a bit looser, now it is perfect ,
55 is a little too rich a 52 or 53 gave me better results Dellorto phbh 28 mm .

Yes, its a series 1. I have orderd the longer s3 kick lever that fits on S1, which should help a little.

Also depends on gearbox. A tall first gear means you have to apply more torque through the lever. The conservative exhaust timing also makes uncorrected compression very high. A larger front sprocket is one solution.
