Has anyone ever come across an Italian (Innocenti stamped) rear hub where the wheel studs are pressed in to the hub flange and not on threaded removable studs?

Yes, sounds like old stock FA Italia ones with black studs. Care, the hubs themselves are OK but the studs are poor. I replaced my studs with the MB ones that press in. The black studs easily press out in a vice using a socket.
FA Italia, I think, responded to bad feedback about these and went back to the usual reverse thread studs a year or so ago.

Thanks, I couldn't press them out at all (hub had been chromed) so had to drill out, retap M8 threads and fit M8 bolts, filed down at the rear to clear casings and loktite applied to threads. They seem to be very secure but I will only use the hub in an emergency for short journeys
