Bloody lambrettas

Now I have registered my Series 2 LI150 now comes the joy :( of getting it running right.

Its a standard 150 with a af clubman exhaust and a jetex carb

Problem is it seems a bit boggy if i give it some throttle around town.

I am running the series 2 airbox unmodified but with a gp air scoop (dont think this is my prob as still is boggy with no air filter on.

The carb settings are

A slide for a gp150
A atomiser for a 150 (or so I belive as no numbers on it)
Choke jet 50
Pilot 45
Main 118

I have tried a 200 slide and atomiser but its worse so I guessing I need a smaller atomiser if so which one

Also from the join on the down pipe to the main body of the exhaust around the bracket to tighten the two together I'm getting a black thick oil like substance leaking. Even if there is a slight exhaust leak I dont think this is right. Am going to seal exhaust properly but would like to no what the oily black stuff is :?

Anyhelp appreciated Cheers Tim

oily black stuff will just be discharge from the exhaust port no worrys there IMO thats norm it must be blowing a bit..carb maybe just wants setting, not sure about the jetting..

this is a very standard set up and if you have the righ jets the only verible left is the air screw.
my jetex has max 3/4 turn on the side but runs at one and a half.

Been for a good ride round town and seemed to get better the more I rode it :? Any how think the idea of swapping to decent jets is a good idea so will be doing that for starters

Will also try turning air screw out a bit more

Cheers for all the advice
Tim :D

Boggy, whats your plug colour like?
I would try going down a couple on the main jet to say a 110 keep an eye on your plug and aim for brown.
The air screw will only effect tick over and possibly starting, if it starts normally move on to the main jet that will control everything over 1/2 throttle.
I run a jetex and never had any problems and a damn sight easier to set up than a modern carb with too many variables for a 150. IMO

Italian 22's have been over abused in the last 30 years of scootering. ALL and I mean to say ALL the Italian original 22 mil carbs I have used where crap. You either find yourself an NOS or go for a Jettex which, so far have never gave me any problem. Or try a Spaco if you find it, since, I must say, I like better than the dellorto original ones (at least they work)

Been out and about on my scoot and all is fine with it now. What the problem appeared to be was that it seemed abit boggy/splutterry until its warm then its fine. My mistake was I was driving round the block it feeling boggy then going home to try to figure out why. Is this normal for a jetex? I hope so then I dont have a problem..... :D
