Anyone had any luck / experience with these for attaching, say, a mudguard?

I've had the front off and on my Lince a few times recently and it's a bit of a pain with the tool box and all the little screws. It would be so much easier and quicker with something like DZUS fasteners, but I'm not that clear on how to get the right ones, it seems the length is critical to the function, or how the 'nut' part would attach to the mudguard.

Any thoughts?

What about wellnuts?

yes ive used them on my rotax 290 toolbox door which covers the radiator i had to remove the hinges so zues fastenings did the job, rear part is pop riveted on , and the screw just goes though and engages as you turn it, different lengths of fastening are available, i got too long first and had to buy more.

I've ordered a sizing kit which comes with all the sizes so you can test and get the right ones. Once you've identified the right size you send it back and they refund it off your order.

Will report back when I've tried it.

Having just stopped cursing the all the little frikken meccano nuts, bolts and washers used when rebuilding bodywork, I really like the idea of Wellnuts.

I'm going to do a little experimenting. Thanks for the suggestion.

I think well nuts can be used usefully in the bits that you're not going to be taking off regularly.

I like the idea of the 1/4 turn for mudguard in particular, four of those and the two screw on the front and you'd have it off in 5 minutes instead of the 30 it usually takes.

I used them on the Rotax 300 bike for the side panels, floorboards, and the glovebox. Will probably do the same for the legshield and the front fender before it's finished as it makes disassembly an absolute breeze and makes for a foolproof installation (ie no rattles, vibration, etc) and they won't come loose when properly installed.

Buy a good dimple die and Dzus tool and you're good to go!

It's a die that makes the dimple in the panel that the dzus button sits in...
