Kickstart bump fitting hints

Hi All, Just a really quick and hopefully easy one to answer. My Serveta was missing the kick start bump rubber so I went and bought another to fit into the engine casing. However, its really tight to get into the hole (oooh errrr) so has anyone any tips to make this simple task easier in fitting it!

Apologies up front for the daft question!

Cheers!!

Use a junior hacksaw to cut a very shallow groove along the length of the bump rubber, this allows air to get out and not compress. Some stops have this groove, others don't.
Use a smear of grease too.

It is possible that it's the wrong size anyway, not that you are ever sold substandard parts!!!

A lot of people,me included, remove the bump stop rubber so the kickstart sits higher.Makes it easier to start while on the stand.

Whenever fitting any rubber parts I always put them in boiling water for 5 mins 1st, makes them nice and pliable

Be careful when fittting the stop. I could hear the teeth rubbing on the start gear teeth when the engine was running.. Had to remove the stop a few times and cut a slither off until it went in the casing far enough to let the kickstart go higher and stop the noise.
