Okay have been told that this bit of kit is a must as it improves tourqe and other things i dont understand and at under £80 is a must.

Can someone tell me the benefits of the augusto, is it an add-on or a replacemnt part, also is there any down side?

Make it simple too understsnd and no jargon please...

easier starting, more fuel economy, smoother running, more power and acceleration low down, easy to fit.

Chalkie at Replay will fit and then dyno all in one session to ensure setup....... or just simply fit yourself

it just plugs in line on the red wire between stator & CDI.
then set your timing with a timing light to what you want it to be.
there's been a couple of informative threads on here about the unit.

As I understand, It makes the timing of your existing electronic ignition variable like on a Variatronic kit.

It will not make your engine produce higher peak power, but it will smooth-out the delivery of the power through the rev range and should make it much easier to ride.

I've ridden a couple of Agusto equipped kits Lambrettas and they were all very good indeed. Very rideable.

Tried one of these out at the weekend and had to turn back from a rally. It was misfiring badly at cruising speed with my mates at the point where I imagine the unit should be starting to retard. Since we had only gone about 5-6 miles I headed home,disconnected the fekker, reset my stator and rode down on my own. It was fitted to an old-school vespa conversion using a turned down px ducati flywheel and stator and I made sure the earth was good. Anyone else had any problems with the Agusto?

I have been thinking about these.. As a couple of people I know, have asked me what I think about these Advance/Retard Units, and should they fit them to their scooters...

From what I have seen at the track, They seem to work and a few racers now use them...

The principle is to run the stator advanced in the slots from the standard stators position, the A/R unit then retarding the timing as revs rise to its fully retarded position at high revs....

There seems to be a couple of ways to do this...

One way could be with the use of a resistance coil/condenser & resistors, possibly using a thyristor...

But its most probably using a chip, with a time delay circuit... Something I'm not too informed about... But TZR assures me that there are chips (Such as a 555 timer) available that could be used running on low voltages similar to the 1.2volts to trigger a spark..!!

I would like to find out how its been done, so I can better understand what I might be fitting to my scooter & how it could effect it. If it fails, knowing how it works, might allow its function to be checked without having to strobe if it missfires or fails...

Jason Frost at Absolutely Scooters has fitted one to my TS1 230.
It seems a lot easier to start,and smoother throughout.

As for improved fuel economy I'm not sure as I get about 25 to a gallon.
