Hub rock

Just changed rear hub and it rocks on layshaft when torqued,took hub off tried old cone,same, put new cone on with extra washer behind cone and it torques up,this is a new SIL hub and cone,any one got any ideas why the old one was ok and the new one rocks or has any one had this happen or do i leave the extra washer on.

Are you sure that the endplate is not working loose? This is the typical cause of hub rock and is one of the things that can really put a casing at risk (works loose and damages endplate stud threads).

there just not made the same and also the further you push the hub out with extra washers the less for the brakeshoe to work on

It sounds like the hub domed nut is bottoming out on the layshaft before it has chance to tighten the hub onto the cone.To test this,try another washer behind the domed nut instead of behind the cone,or instead of a domed nut try an ordinary nut(without the dome)on the end of the layshaft.
