Clutch arm replacement

Looking to replace the rusty, horrible looking clutch arm on my Li 150 S3 but before I start to take the old one off, I wanted to ask is it OK to just remove the old and refit the new or is it more complex than that. The engine is out of the scooter at the moment so the cable is already disconnected. I was hoping to lift the old one off with the spring and replace with new arm and spring. Does it have to be set in a certain position? I am hoping I do not have to remove the side casing off the engine for any reason?

No problem just whipping the old one off and fitting the new one in the same position ( just mark the shaft so you know which spline you can use as a datum to line things up). Even if you get it in the wrong position it's easy enough to just move it around one spline.

Yep, take of the circlip and you should be able to get it off.

Once off, judicious application of the old rotary wire brush will bring it up nicely and then you can paint it or replate it with one of the home brew plating kit.

Refitting the spring is easy enough if you have a hooked spring puller.

Thanks for the help. Very pleased it is as straight forward as that. I do have a hooked spring puller so that should make life a bit easier too.

if it's very rusty it might be seized onto the shaft - I have a couple like that under the bench and because there's no slot to widen it's almost like they're fused.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

A job for the weekend when I fit the new alloy BGM gear linkage pivot, adjuster block & tie rod set. I let you know how it goes.
