having to fit a brake pedal, i cant work out from Stickys or other diagrams where the round hooked end fits, i can see a hole on the frame which logically would be the place to put that end in, but it wont flip over anticlockwise to come the right way up on the pedal - is there some secret or do i need to remove the sensor etc?

yes,the hook end nearest spring fits in hole nearest pedal pin,use a spring puller to pull arm over pedal.

Drew,
Just be a little careful here, because I have a brake pedal spring for a Lambretta, or at least I thought it was until I tried to fit it. In fact, it was an exact mirror image of a proper spring and completely inappropriate.
I've no idea where this came from, but if I could find one, so could you.

As you say one hook through the frame then the other end under the pedal (you dont lever it anti clock wise!)
They can be a real fukka to get on. I put the bit that hooks in the frame first then use a screw driver as lever under brake mounting point and the other hook at the end of the spring, then pushing clockwise I then pop the pedal on and lever the hook under the pedal (hope that made sense

)
Hope this helps (ignore the switch bodge in the piccy, unless you have a s1 or 2)
Mike

Right this might or might not sound crazy..but it worked for me,
My kids have a trampoline, when we bought it and put the trampoline together we had to stretch the springs and there was a tool that came with it to do this..and this is what I used to fit my back brake spring worked a treat..
