Hi, after dropping my engine out yesterday to have some welding done on the frame I noticed that the kickstart side mount rubber had started to come away from the outer metal sleeve, its only been in for a couple of hundred miles!, this was one of a pair where the other mount had done the same (even before i'd fitted the engine after a rebuild) I put it down to a one off bad manufacture which in the first instance I contacted the dealer who supplied them & sent photos & they replaced no problem, I contacted the dealer again yesterday regarding this one & sent photos again, & I was asked if I had fitted it correctly, which I had as per stickys manual, the guy I spoke to was helpful & explained he had to gather some information before putting to his boss, so I'm awaiting a response on this today hopefully, so getting to my question & I hope it doesn't sound to daft but could you fit a 2 hole mount on the kickstart side & have a 3 hole on the other? I have a spare unused 2 hole mount & it just got me thinking! thanks for any info to my long winded post ! ;)

You could. What effect it would have on the vibration? I have no idea. Lambrettas vibrate!

thats a good point re fitting a 3 hole to one side and a 2 hole to the other- never thought about that before.

As they are inherently different (2 hole and 3 hole) then their characteristics are going to be different.

I would imagine that one would take more "punishment" than the other? and fail accordingly??

Having said that I had a series of K/S side mounts fail (they take more stress from kicking the bike over) and I've always "silliconed" the voids in the units which, in my World, seems to help.

Also, I use plastic covers over both to protect the rubber from fuel etc- black plastic spray polish tops seem to fit nicely and look OK

Replacements don't seem that last long, 2 or 3 hole and are too hard/ soft or just break away. I've now got into the habit of only replacing the broken original one, which as mentioned is the kickstart side.

it might be worth giving the bigger type of mount a try, i got mine from af rayspeed , you need the extended bar as well.

The MB ones are harder on the right than the left as it's the right that generally gives up first.

Both engine mounts are marked up with L/H and R/H side with directional arrow pointing to the top to show correct fitment.

The right hand mount is re-inforced to deal with the extra strain of having to deal with the scooter being kicked over on that side.

And the mb ones work but so does the 3 hole from scooters restoration
