Can my main jet affect maximum revs?

Been playing with my jetting for a long while now and compared to others with a similar setup my main jet is higher than anyone else but my max revs seem to be lower at around 7.8k could my jetting be causing this? I'm running a monza 225 with a modified tsr evo exhaust on a phbh30 with a 50 slide av266 atomiser 142 main 55 idle and an x2 needle on the second clip from the top. Everyone else I know seems to be running around the 130/135 main jet size. Originally had a 40 slide and 135 main but it ran like a bag of shite up to half throttle and the 50 slide solved this. Would I be better off coming down to 135 on the main and moving my needle up?
