What's the idea behind greasing the fork springs rods etc? Stickys says too much is never enough.

Is it for rust protection of the springs/rods, reduce noise of metal to metal or friction between rods and springs?

Right, mine are nickel plated then chromed and will be a sunny sunday driver so a light smear on the rods is all it needs. ImageImage

And on the springs or you'll hear them rubbing on the inside of the fork leg tubes.

When I did my original build I very lightly greased the fork springs, we'll all you could hear was the springs creaking and making springing noises! Took it back apart bucket of grease, get yer hand in don't be shy, big handfuls of grease squeezed between the springs now it's nice and quiet.
