Crashbar holes

Two questions:
1. The previous owner had legshield crashbars fitted (I'm guessing) as there are two holes in the legshields. He fitted two badges over the top of the holes before I bought it. Anyway, I am stripping it down shortly to respray and generally tart up. Is it possible to fill the holes without welding? Not sure if a normal car body filler will bridge the hole and fill it. I would estimate the holes are approx. 10mm diameter. Obviously they are visible both sides so can't really patch and fill.

2. Do fibreglass panels/parts need etch priming or is a normal primer OK to use?

Thanks for any help.

I have welded them up before. What is your objection to welding?

I am no painter, but I seem to recall that fibreglass panels need etch primer. Halfords do a very good etch primer in a metallic red can.

I have no objection to welding. Just not something I can do myself and one more thing to try to get organised and pay for. Thanks for the tip on the fibreglass panel pre too.

In my experience mate , they never look 100% unless its welded up. You can always see a bubble.
Teach yourself MIG , its brill.
I look for an excuse to weld things up nowadays ..ha
