backfire/ overrun causes?

thoughts on what might be causing my engine to occasionally backfire through the exhaust? it only seems to happen when i have been running at full throttle, backed off & then re-open the throttle. There will be a split second hesitation followed by a flat sounding explosive/ woosh noise from the exhaust which you can feel popping out of the end of the pipe. It doesn't happen all the time, only under extended full load running. the plug colour is good, otherwise it runs fine. set up is a Pinasco 177 kit on a P125 with a 24mm carb, fast flow tap & SIP Road 2. Jets are 160-BE3-118. Nothing has been changed recently to this setup.

The only time I experienced backfiring (apart from after a curry) was when the CDi was on the way out.

Check plug cap for good fit and ht connection to CDI.
