Hi all
I am running the new polini 210 alloy kit with standard 24si carb ,kit is running great but think it would benefit from a bigger carb ,seems a minefield when you start to find info on carbs, was after info of what others are running was looking at the new pinasco 28mm si carb but looks expensive

Your better off starting with a 130 main and working down..

What sort of benefit are you after?
Are you sure you wouldn't end up making it a lot more thirsty, and less rideable, with a bigger carb?

was running a 24mm with Polini intake on a 135 main and 60mm mazz crank, went well but wouldn't rev out, more or less ceilinged at 6000rpm.
Put a 28mm on and it does rev higher but started getting a bit of pinking in mid range which the MMW head and KyTronic were supposed to eradicate.

Wondering if it's worth dropping back to a 26mm SI.

I ran a cast iron Polini with a 60mm crank and it was fine with a 24G, 125 main jet when I used it with a sito plus/T5 exhaust, 130 with a Taffy pipe. Barrel packed with a 1.5mm spacer at the bottom. Standard head machined for the kit, standard gearing. Went really, really well and was much nicer to ride than any Malossi 210 I've ever owned or ridden.
Joeythescooterboy; you say your kit revs out at 6000 revs. Where have you packed the barrel to accommodate the 60mm crank? If the MMW head is machined to take the 60mm crank, that is the answer to your lack of revs. If you pack your barrel at the bottom by 1.5 mm you might lose a bit of torque but you will gain at the top end and it will rev out more.
Having said that, the Polini is a grunt monster and will take higher gearing; if you have packed at the top , you could upgear and make the most of the torque. You can do this easily nowadays with a 24 tooth cog if you are running a Cosa clutch, no need to touch the primary drive. You will then get more top speed at lower revs.
