Has anyone modified the dogleg support on the chain casing side so you haven't got to drop the engine out to take the casing off,on a gp

You don't have to - the side casing can be removed with it in place.
That's why the support is bolted and can be demounted

I've tried I can't seem to get it past the studs to get it off so I've been dropping the engine out

That's the whole idea of having the two bolts..so you can take the leg off first so you can then remove the chain case.

How are your panel gaps? The support frame bends quite easily, it might need a tweek.

They all seem pretty good to be fair, was thinking of cutting it then putting a joining bracket in to make it dead easy

Try removing the rear shock and either get someone to lift rear of frame or use a jack it should give you more clearence to get side case off.

Unfasten the two bolts and nuts that hold it on to the support leg and remove it.Next place a thick peice of wood under the back of the frame, jack up without unfastening anything and the frame will be raised enough to remove the sidecover
