Speedo sensor

Hi all. I've been tasked to fit an aftermarket speedo and magnetic sensor to lammy outboard front disc, now it's a bit tight in there but mounting the magnetic disc to one of the disc bolts and I've made a bracket to to fit the sensor which is very similar to one in link. What I'd like to know is if the sensor is horizontal I'm concerned the magnet will be picked up buy either end of the sensor and all the instructions I've seen is that the magnet should pass over either end of sensor but not the middle. Will my sensor work ok horizontal? Cheers for any advice

That should work ok, the sensor isn't a magnet, it will either be a read switch or some sort of solid state semiconductor device. Either way, they will only trigger once wi=hen they pass through a magnetic field.

If it's an active sensor (as used on SIP speedos and others) you don't need a magnet at all. It will sense the disc bolts for example, if they are in its range. You just set the speedo for the number of bolts or whatever per wheel revolution.

Cheers mate. How do you know if it's active or not? It came with an m6 threaded bolt that has a magnet fitted? My main concern is that the instructions say that the magnet should line up with the marks either end
of the sensor but if I fit it horizontal the magnet(or disc bolt heads) will run through both sides of sensor.will it give false or no reading at all?
