I have a newly rebuilt standard lambretta engine that is not now going to be used in a scooter for a couple of years (possibly more) so I need to store it and as it's not in a scooter it won't be getting started. Should I put oil in it or leave it dry? Advice please!

Personally I'd brim the gearbox with gearbox oil and brim the top end (crank case and barrel with 2 stroke.

It's easy enough to drain down when you need it but rush can destroy gears and bearings.

If you just coat stuff in oil it will run off leaving surfaces exposed to oxygen.
