Why is it such a pain trying to find a good fitting headset top and bottom. We're there different moulds. You would think they would be all the same. Right?. Some are too far out to even fettel. Draining it is. Draining

Indian I presume, I must have 20 GP tops and bottoms that don't match. The lugs need welding up and re-drilling but even then you can't get a rim to fit.
I'm convinced that they're made by different companies, right Twix and left Twix factories.

I have one GP base stamped innocenti and 3 tops all stamped same. One fits perfect, one is nearly 5mm out on headlight rim and other is too wide across gear and clutch housings and sits bad. The numbers are all same but none are the same in height and width by slight amounts. Don't you just love being a scooterist

Bear in mind that some of them will 50 year old parts and who knows what's happened in that time.

Blasting is a known distorter of soft alloy parts.

Innocenti also almost certainly had alloy castings made by several foundries.
