Hi, was thinking of putting indicators on my SIL GP200, i know how to wire them, but i would like to know the best kind of switch or switches to use, i was thinking of mounting two flick switches on top of my legshield toolbox, as i don't really want to alter the horn/dip switch. suggestions please ?

I'd use a correct style handlebar mounted switch as you want them to be only a thumb's reach away. You don't want to be taking a hand off the bars and trying to find a remote switch in the dark on a wet road when the oncoming car is blinding you.

Also I think if you can't actually see the lamps from the normal driving position you need an idiot light.

The trapezium shaped handlebar switch can be converted to operate the indicators if used in conjunction with correct ignition switch.

That's what I am going to use.

I am mounting my indicators either side of the headlight, and they have visible orange on the tips which I can see from the driving seat. No need for a repeater light.

The series 1-2 switch is an easy mod once you go to an ignition switch for lights. Easy to use even with winter gloves. I tried a 2 button with a cancel button that worked but was a pain with gloves going round a rounderbout going from one to the other. I wouldn't go back to arm signals most think you are waving then on.

Interestingly, my switch of the type shown in photo has been on my bike for a number of years (7 ?) and has been perfectly reliable to date (tempting fate). I've commuted on said bike and left it in the rain throughout the winter (work day) so it has taken the worst that the British weather could chuck at it. I guess that the suspect quality is a 'hit and miss' issue rather than them all being good... or all bad.

Personally, I'd give one a go as it really is the perfect place to operate indicators. Every time I get back on my Vijai, after using a non-indicator bike, I remember how handy and beneficial they are for regular road use.

Note that you may already have the right type of lever housing for it to fit into as this was later SIL standard fitting bu tyou may have one that takes the GP type switch. Make sure that you have the right housing already, if not, do note that later SIL housings are a larger size than Italian GP.

Pest thing that you could do is post some photos of what you have and that way people on here can help identify what you need.
