It's a nub cone or a frame cone. And the brass piece is for a Vespa clutch.

Could it not be a clutch plunger for a GP side casing?

brass piece looks like the gp bronze plunger for the gp clutch pressure plate to me

Mine is a gp but it fell out taking the casing off thought it was something to do with the clutch but couldn't see how it fits, ps thanks for all your quick replies much appreciated

It fits on the clutch lever inside the SIDE casing...
