I'm looking for a rectifier/regulator for my Lambretta DC conversion,
Is anyone using anything other than a wassel?
The SWISS 712 looks promising?

If you mean this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12-8-VOLT-UNI ... 2185407370

I think you are onto a loser there as it doesnt do the same as the wassel, it just does the same as a normal rectifer, just smaller.

That is only a rectifier, you need rectifier/regulator which is what the Wassel is. Unregulated, you will overcharge the battery and also blow light bulbs.

Cheers, probably why they aren't being used much.

An expert might confirm but I THINK you would need to use that type with a Zenor Diode to clamp the voltage, the Wassel has one built in.

Addng a zener clamp would work but its a bit of a backward step. I was really looking for an alternative to the wassel.
There seems to be plenty regulator/rectifiers knocking about but no specs or power ratings.

The regulator shown above may be worth a punt based on price as a replacment for the BGM small AC regulator. This one has no info on wireing but my money would be on them being a standard pin out. Being able to get the other half of the nylon plug shell would neaten up a lot of wireing.

I think these are the connectors

I agree They will neaten it up nicely.
There are lots of reasonably priced regulator rectifiers around but can't find power ratings for any of them.
The Swiss automotive 750 looks like a possibility and there are plenty 4 wire GY6 regulator rectifiers but I can't find their stator outputs?
Might take a punt on this

Looks like a good price better than the Wassel let us know how you get on. Like the plug, but a bit awkward to dismantle to get the wires out of the mag housing
