Hi, does anyone know how or what info the dvla will accept as proof of age for an imported scooter? I spoke to the dvla and they said scooter owners club or manufacturer. Has anyone out there done this?

Cheers Rob

yes, i got a dating certificate from lambretta club of great britain, it tells you the date of manufacture on the certificate, which you will need anyway to register the scooter, i presume its a lambretta ?

you can get the nova on the gov . org website its to prove that any import tax is paid on my last one i just answerd the questions and it then gives you a nova number print it off and send acopy with the dating certificate if you go on cambridge lambretta site and look on tech questions it shows you how to fill in the v55 as well

Great info guys, it's what I thought but the dvla man was not so straight forward with answers.

Did you need to pay anything for the service?

I don't have any logbook or any other paperwork. Just have the frame and engine numbers to work with.

You can get the age of the frame yourself from the British Lambretta Archive.

You don't need any supporting evidence to get a Nova certificate number it it's an EU sourced frame.

A costs nothing.

First registration fee is £55 to DVLA plus your road tax (where applicable).

One bit of advice; Don't go into this believing the DVLA understand their own rules.
