BRSA Nationals

I've noticed that there are quite a few of next years rallies advertised as a "National".......Weston-Super-Mare being one.
With Easter alternating between Whitby and Scarborough and Kelso, Cleethorpes, IOW and Bridlington being pretty much carved in stone it makes you wonder what 20 odd people have to sit down and discuss at the BRSA meeting ?
Seems a bit odd as the dates and venues aren't decided until Brid', or if it is correct then why bother with a meeting ?

What difference does it make to a rally whether it's a national or not?
( or have I got the wrong end of the stick)....

A reasonable question DD.
Our rally (Mersea) has been, and not been, a National rally.
The main advantage is that if you are a National, you effectively get some free advertising for your event. You also get some people attending who choose to attend EVERY National rally. Some rally organisers say that National status brings in extra income and many like the kudos of National status.
On the other hand, you might not attract any extra people, or it could attract too many people for the facilities at your rally site, or for the number of stewards/volunteers.
National status does not suit everyone. Our club have decided that, whilst supporting the role and aims of the BSRA and acknowledging the importance of the National rallies, we will not be seeking National status for Mersea for 2017. Kev Walsh has been advised.

I don't like national rallies. Not enough scoots about for my liking.
