Can anyone suggest what is causing the following:

A Mk1 P Range Vespa with front indicators that when switched on do not flash?

The relevant back indicator, and indicator warning light, on the headset flash as expected, yet the front indicator stays on solidly when switched on.

I've connected a replacement indicator switch directly into the loom under the horncast, I've tried a band new flasher relay, I've checked and scratched off paint where the front indicators earth to the frame inside the legshield toolbox, changed the bulbs, yet there is nothing obvious that I can see wrong amongst the wiring in the headset.

Idea's what I must be obviously overlooking would be welcome.

Has anyone has a similar indicator issue - how did you sort it?

Toot, you've done everything I would have done, is it one or both that stay on ?

Only thing I can think of would be to take the indicator assembly out of frame and check carefully the bulb holder/metal connections - part of it has a metal link from the bulb holder part to the where the fixing bolt goes through holder and frame, I once had one of them break which stopped the earth continuity but can't remember if kept them on or off.

Cheers Gaz, something to look at (again).

It's each respective side front indicator that stays on, whilst the back one and headset indicator light flashes as expected.

Any luck??

You do have the appropriate wattage lamps fitted?

Not yet had the scoot back round to have a look at (it's a young lad that's just bought it), I'll ask him to bring this round this week and have another look.

An "easy" job, for a favour ....turned nightmare !!!

I suspect a bad earth.

i'd be inclined to run a wire from each indicator to a good engine earth (as opposed to the local frame earth) with all 4 indicators on the same earth point.

This will eliminate any bad earth points. If all working re-attach one at a time checking each time one is re-connected to it's own frame earth.

check that the correct bulbs are fitted, they might be the wrong type or wattage ?
