Sat nav powering problem

Had a problem with my new sat nav going and coming back from Wooly over the weekend, it suddenly switched off as the battery had run down, I have powered it with a mod charger, it was ok for a few hours, but then switched off, now would a mod charger give enough power for the sat nav with your headlights on ? if not what would be the best way to power it,I don`t really want to fit a battery, was thinking of a 5 pin regulator and connecting the DC from that to the sat nav, if so would I need to fit anything else ?

That would depend on the wattage of your headlamp and iff you are also using an LED rear lamp. The power available from an Indian stator is very marginal and if you are using a 55/60 watt headlamp you will struggle and won't have enough power for the satnav at town riding speeds. You should be ok with a 35 watt lamp though. The |BGM stator puts out a bit more and mine charges at 13 volts around town rising to 14.2 volts from about 40mph. That's with a 35 watt rated HID headlamp and a BGM led rear lamp. I charge a 7.2 Amp battery and power a Garmin, satnav, Iphone etc.

I know nothing about electricary
but had a similar problem. There was a loose connection in the terminal block and also the connection to the sat navy. Also blew fuses in the mod charger quite regularly. All now secure with no issues and I don't have a battery.
