GP gearbox questions

I have just refitted my engine after having some top end work done, anyway I ran it up yesterday with a few problems with the gearbox (Indian GP with 19 T front sprocket) I have had this gearbox in the scoot for about 4 years with no problems;
1. Jumping in and out of 2nd gear
2. Can't select 4th gear (I have just fitted a new selector arm)
3. As I was entering my drive the rear wheel locked up.
I stripped the engine this morning and found that one of the teeth had broken off the Christmas tree (3rd gear) so that explains the wheel locking up at least!
On inspection of the loose gears I found that one of them (2nd gear) is stamped Innocenti, is this normal/ usual for an Indian gearbox or has some one replaced a gear over its life, are they interchangeable? Could this cause the jumping gear or is it more likely I have put second gear the wrong way round....could this have caused the broken tooth?
Regarding the gear selector it was possible to select 4th manually with the engine out but with the linkage and the rubber boot fitted it does get close to the casing, and the angle of the linkage looks pretty close to its limit in terms of leverage....maybe I can turn it one spline but will that affect first-year selection?
Any advice or input appreciated
Cheers
