Following a tip that i should carry more tools, (toolbox is now crammed, standard gp) what are your thoughts on legshield toolboxes? I.e. metal, f/glass, px shape, rally shape, etc...oh yeah and anyone using one of them inside side panel boxes?, thanks for looking

All of the above.

I've been thinking the same thing, a rally type is about £70, then it has to be painted and then fitted. It's the fitting and fettling that's putting me off.

If I go on a long ride that needs more tools, I just put a bag/backpack there secured by a cargo net. Sort of does the job.

Cheers Ed, yeah, got to be fettled, welded, then painted of course, how you'd paint inside? Knowledge, you used one of the inside side panel jobs?

All of the above if you want oil plus all spares including stator and clutch and piston and the all the tools to get to them. Gas for tyres etc. I use a PX toolbox. You have to pack and stack it well to get the door shut but easier to find things.

I've got an under side panel box on my Eibar S2, but the primary use for this is for my battery, but the wife bought me one of the Casa Lambretta legshield bags for my birthday this year.

Pros; Loads of extra storage, can fit loads in it. I have 2 Series 2s so can swap it between them. No fettling to fit, painting, etc.
Cons; Isn't secure, anyone can open the zip or even just walk off with the whole thing.

What I tend to do is put my tools in the tool box, plus any spares that will fit in (as I can lock it) and then use the legshield 'bag' for waterproofs, oil, rags, and things can be easily/cheaply replaced like tyre weld, carb clean, electrical tape, etc.

Yes, I built my own from 3mm ali. It bolts on with just two M8 bolts. I put tools in there, though it could take bottles of oil.

I have a legshield tool box, which was a very poor reproduction Spanish Vespa item. I had an original Spanish S/F Vespa tool box and I did a straight swap with a guy who wanted an original as I figured it was a shame to waste a good original item by trimming it to fit the Lambretta. His poor repro became my Lambretta legshield tool box. I keep a few tools in it, plus my bottle of oil.

On my next machine, I will have a reduced under-seat tool box for my waterproofs, an under side panel box, a legshield tool box and a topbox. Of course, I can pick and choose which of these I use, as the topbox will only go on for the big trips.

Believe me, topboxes are the new black. Get one while they are cheap (I paid £3 for mine, and it is gorgeous)

I've recently fitted a Rally type to my GP. It came in bare metal so no crappy far eastern primer to worry about. It was a lovely fit and required no trimming or fettling to make it fit. I got it from Just Lambretta but other dealers supply them too.
