Hi, i am after a set of front dampers for my series 2, thers so many to choose from now 1 whats every one using ? 2 how does it perform ? been looking at targaline, BGM, attomic, but willing to listen, from your experiences what should i go for.

nothing wrong with escorts imo a lot of these fancy front dampers are over kill for most peoples needs/use and are prob more a cosmetic thing. as I say before anyone has a go its only my opinion

hi bazza, yeah i have a set of escorts on at the mo, not had them long but they feel a bit soft for my liking, all i had on my golden special were MB progressive fork springs (no dampers) and it was great to ride, much better than this series 2

What fork springs do you have in their at the moment? I've got Ultimate progressive from CamLam in one and the progressive MB ones in another and haven't felt the need to put shocks on as well. Sounds to me like that's what you need and far cheaper than dampers

May I just point out, front dampers on a Lambretta should only 'damp' on wheel drop. The springs deal with the wheel rising.

don,t know what springs are in, not had the scoot long, just up to upgrading every thing, as i intend keeping this one, had engine gone over and an Rt 195 kit fitted, tubeless rims, just started on spraying bits of the body work, so i thought suspension next and with it having damper brackets already welded on it would look naff without dampers

There's nowt fundamentally wrong with compression damping added to the spring resistance. In simplistic terms they can be used to keep the fork compression more uniform while they "jack".

separate point (sort of), but the first dampers I put on my LI were really crap quality and had a ridiculous amount of compression damping as well as very high rebound. In fact you could barely move them by hand in either direction. I changed them for better quality ones from scootopia but I've now found that dive caused by my reverse pull drum brake is unpleasant. In a nutshell, I'd prefer MUCH stiffer springs that the camlam 'ultimate' springs I have in at the moment, OR dampers with compression as well as rebound damping.

Does anyone know if the BGM springs are much stiffer or just about the same?

As im sure you are aware the point of dampers are to help keep the wheel on the tarmac and to stop bounce , before spending more than you need mate i would prob do what others have mentioned and replace the springs for a decent set. My mate has a quality set of thd bgm front dampers but the front end is still very soft on comprssion due to imo the need of a new set of fork springs. (They do look the buisness though).

I've got both the MB and Camlam ultimate progressives in different scooters and tbh I can't tell the difference so would say they are about the same. Only real difference is colour, price and availability!
