Gave everything a thorough clean & degrease 1st - then used a linishing belt on the few rough spots that there were & just gently smoothed everything else down with some different grades of soft pads - applied a couple of coats of Matt lacquer to seal all the external surfaces & smothered all the underside surfaces & frame tunnel with clear wax oil.storkfoot wrote:Lovely Vespa that. Out of interest, how did you treat the rusted areas before applyng the clearcoat?
Majority of original paint remains intact... just worn, faded & scruffy... and all areas of frame & panels are as solid & straight as the day they left the factory!
I think the steel pressings used on these early Spanish models was definitely of a better/thicker/heavier grade than that used on their Italian counterparts.
