Call into Maplins to see whats available in their range of 12 volt sealed lead acid battery, which are all rechargable (but there are cheaper places to buy one)... find one thats the size you want for where you want to put it.... Then there are a couple of people on this forum with simple systems for charging these with a properly controled voltage....

If you haven't got a Maplins, try http://www.rapidonline.com and check out the Yuasa batteries as fitted to burgalr alarms and the like.

There is also a series of excellent fact sheets available on line for Yuasa batteries, with all the dimensions.

You don't need BIG terminals on your battery for a Lammy, as you don't draw large current through the terminals. Vespa do, as they have electric starters.
