Egt vs cht

Intend to add a temperature gauge to my ts1. And have a couple of questions.
Which is better, egt or cht and why?
If I use cht with the probe under the spark plug, is it likely to cause a leak?
I'd like to use an ac stator with a regulator that has a dc output; is the little dc output big enough to drive 0.2amp gauge?
